They had to amputate fingers of a slow loris. I got to see these operation, but when they cut the finger I got really nauseous so I left. It was still a pretty cool experience though.
There was an eagle release, it took the eagle 1 hour to get out the cage. We waited all that time in the burning sun, but it was so worth it.
There was also an earthquake with a magnitude of 6.2, we didn't feel much just that the dorm was shaking.
Today they fed the crocodiles. I also fed one! I had to hold a stick with a fish on the end near to his jaw. The one I fed had a missing upper jaw. Crocodiles really can't see a lot but once they see the fish they are so extremely fast. So yeah I can say that I fed a real life crocodile in my life.
This night I observed the slow loris. You have to observe them with a red light, because they can't see it. Imagine all these jungle sounds and you're walking in the dark with a little red light, lighting up the slow loris eyes hoping that you won't step on a poisonous snake. But I did like it because it was such a crazy experience.
I really love it here, we are in the middle of nowhere, the facilities are shit and I can't see the rice anymore. But I love the work with the animals, playing cards with the other volunteers, being outside all the time, the view, all the great experiences... I don't wanna go home yet, not next month, I want to see so much more of the world. I think traveling is pretty addictive, and I'm addicted!
